Hello! 

My name is Dawn and I am the founder of 'HELPING HANDS ERRAND & PET SERVICE'.  I came up with the idea because like so many people I have a busy work and family life with a husband, children and pets to care for, so I often had to be in two places at once! 

In 2006 I was looking for a personal, friendly service who would love our pets as we do. I needed some help with caring for our 3 cats when we went on holiday and another pair of hands for when I was stuck at work and needed some home errands running, yet I couldn't find a service offering this so I created one and HELPING HANDS was born.

We are a family run business and live in Gateshead. You will find our services are for everyone from professionals to busy parents, the elderly to housebound people.  Our pet service clients have the exclusive use of our Errand Services too. These services are designed to help our clients run their home lives more smoothly because we take care of their busy and time consuming tasks therefore taking the pressure off them!

The area's we cover are Chester-le-Street, Birtley, Washington, Gateshead and Newcastle.

Helping Hands has now become one of the largest non - franchise pet services in Tyne and Wear, but importantly we have still maintained our warm and friendly approach, we are big enough to cope but small enough to care!  We provide, Dog Walking, Puppy Checking, Dog Home Boarding, Pet Visits For Small Pets, Elderly Pet Care and our highly popular Mobile Cattery Service, which has proven to be a huge success with cat owners who dont want to board their pet. Whatever help you need JUST ASK!

I have always had a pet in my life, my parents owned a cattery when I was growing up and my Father was also an R.S.P.C.A Inspector.  We had dogs, cats, geese, pigs even a donkey.  The pet service I have created with HELPING HANDS is special because I know how precious our pets are to us.  All of our clients pets are treated with care and devotion.  I find my work is very rewarding, especially when a clients dog rushes to the door when I ring the bell to take her for a lunchtime walk or a shy cat that is booked in for the mobile cattery service is happily keeping me company and giving me fuss, whilst I clean the litter tray!

Many of the dogs that we walk and pet visit are rescue dogs.  These once damaged animals now have loving new owners and a happy life, and we continue that care when they are with us. We prefer NOT to use vans and cages to transport the dogs because i wouldn't want our dog spencer to travel that way, so we use cars instead. Our latest addition is a silver Citroen Berlingo, which is spacious with lots of windows, fully air conditioned and has powerful air blowers in the back which is perfect to keep the dogs cool on hot days. We have the pet safely secured on the seat or in the rear of the car and they are happy to look out of the window and watch the world go by as we travel.

Animal Welfare is our priority, and we will always accommodate our services accordingly to what is best for your pet.

We added a 'Guest Book' to the site in May 2008 so that clients can write directly onto the website themselves instead of having to come through us, they can leave messages and say what they think about the service, good or bad, which gives an honest opinion and helps potential clients with their decision to use Helping Hands.

Im Hugely proud of Helping Hands and what we have achieved. We started the business in a very humble fashion, we didn't have grants from the Goverment or financial help from banks, but from sheer hard work, determination and most importantly the trust of our clients, Helping Hands has grown into the wonderful pet service I imagined it would be, providing a warm and friendly service for you and your pets that you can trust.
