Hello, My name is Dawn and Im the founder of Helping Hands Errand & Pet service. I came up with the idea because like so many people I have a busy life and often had to be in two places at once! I looked into services that were on offer and found little was available or affordable for what I needed.
I didn't want a full time personal shopper, Cleaner, Pet sitter, dog walker, General Run-around person! So after a lot of research by myself and business advice from Gateshead Council's Development and Enterprise Department HELPING HANDS ERRAND & PET SERVICE was created.
We are a family run business and live in GATESHEAD. We own 3 cats one of which is a rescue cat and we also have a dog called spencer , who is a collie cross and was an unwanted puppy so we adopted him 6 years ago. we love our pets dearly and we appreciate and understand our clients affection and love for their pets too.
You will find our services are for everyone from professionals to busy parents, the elderly to housebound people.The area's we cover are all the boroughs in and around Gateshead and Newcastle-upon-tyne
The Errand service we offer is a great way for clients to be able to get that extra help as and when they need it, also it takes away the pressure of having to put upon friends or family. We take care of whatever help you need, for instance whilst your at work we can take your car for its garage service and drop it back off again or we can wait in for a delivery, oversee a repair , call round to check on an elderly family member and run their Errands, or even if your just not well and you need someone to nip to the shops, put your hoover round and tidy up. Just Ask!
We have our own House Hygienist for clients wanting a thorough clean for their home, with an Irioning service included. we can also tend to your Garden needs with our Garden Services.
Clients wanting to have a house / pet sitter can use our Home Sitting Service for peace of mind when they are away.
Our pet services are very popular, we will walk your dog, take care of your pet and home when you go on holiday, puppy check, pet visit, Pet Taxi the list is endless, whatever help you need JUST ASK ! I have always had a pet in my life, my parents owned a cattery when I was growing up and my Father was also an R.S.P.C.A Inspector. We had dogs, cats, geese, pigs even a donkey! The pet service I have created with HELPING HANDS is special because I know how precious our pets are to us. All of our clients pets are treated with care and devotion. I find my work is very rewarding and humbling, especially when my clients dog rushes to the door when I ring the bell to take her for a lunchtime walk or a shy cat that is having pet visits happily keeps ME company and gives ME fuss, whilst I clean the litter tray !
Many of the dogs that we walk and pet visit are rescue dogs. These once damaged animals now have loving new owners and a happy life, and we continue that care when they are with us. We prefer NOT to use vans and cages to transport the dogs because i wouldn't want spencer to travel that way, so we use cars instead. Our latest addition is a silver Citroen Berlingo, which is spacious with lots of windows, fully air conditioned and has powerful air blowers in the back which is perfect to keep the dogs cool on hot days. We have the pet safely secured on the seat or in the rear of the car and they are happy to look out of the window and watch the world go by as we travel. Animal Welfare is our priority, and we will always accommodate our services accordingly to what is best for that pet and we keep travel time for the dogs to the minimum.
We added a guest book to the site in May 2008 so that clients can write directly onto the website themselves instead of having to come through us, they can leave messages and say what they think about the service, good or bad, which gives an honest opinion and helps potential clients with their decision to use Helping Hands.
